This compact, assembled open-frame DC motor demonstration model exposes the parts normally hidden inside a motor. Its copper-wound armature rotates between permanent magnets while visible commutator contacts switch current through the rotor. A three-blade propeller makes electrical-to-mechanical energy conversion easy to observe.

Begin at the lowest practical voltage and current settings and increase only enough to produce rotation. Disconnect immediately if the windings or contacts become warm, the rotor stalls, or unusual odor, smoke or excessive sparking occurs. Never connect this model to household AC or mains power. Keep fingers, hair, loose clothing, tools and small objects away from the exposed propeller, shaft and magnetic gap. Disconnect power before touching or adjusting the model. Eye protection and adult supervision are recommended. This educational model is not a toy.
